Score at the Used Book Sale
Apr. 28th, 2010 06:53 pmBecause you know I don't have enough books in my squished stack of TBR books, I went to the used book sale sponsored by the AAUW. They hold it twice a year in the mall, and all proceeds go to scholarships at our local schools. So it's a win-win. I also donate all my books I don't want to keep. Another win-win. My shelves get cleaned, they get a profit. They sell hardcovers for $2 and paperback for $1. What a deal. If I would have waited until tomorrow, the last day, everything goes at half price or less. But I went today. I got a Margaret Atwood hardcover, Cat's Eye. Healer's War by Elizabeth Scarborough, which looks to be a magical realism sort of tale about the Vietnam War, The Way of the White Clouds, by Lama Anagarika Govinda, about Tibet. The inside cover says it's a "gloriously poetic story of exploration and discovery", a "classic spiritual autobiography." It looked interesting for research type of stuff. Also, Roads Not Taken, Tales of Alternate History, edited by Gardner Dozois, a 1998 edition. And then, don't ask me why, but I picked up a cliff notes on Of Mice and Men. I'm not sure I've read the entire book, and I haven't the time or inclination to read the entire book, so I thought what the heck, I'll try the cliff notes. Even though I have yet to read the books I bought at the last used book sale. I always find interesting books that I mean to read for research and ideas.
Today's total purchase -- $9.50. That's a ScOOOOOOOOOre! I love buying books.
