Waiting is the hard part

So I'm still in limbo awaiting lab results and have decided I've had about enough of it. My initial reaction to bad news is to retreat into my cave and pull a rock over the opening. But ya know, it gets dark in there and after a little while I begin to wonder what the heck is going on out there beyond my rock. And one can only play so many hours of JewelQuest, right? (Although, in its defense, it is a totally absorbing game and requires such powers of concentration, that all thinking is squeezed right outta the brain.)
So there's been no writing done. And that must change. I have a story that is quite possibly one of my favorites of mine and shows the most promise, and yet it's still sitting open and minimized on the laptop, halfway through a revision. I really need to finish that and send it out into the world. Also my second-best-hope story is in the same state, except it does need a full revision after a 3rd-round reject from ASIM with comments that I've decided to see if I can address. (2 of the 3 reviewers gave it thumbs up, the third thought there was a touch too much explanation).

Only for those of you interested enough to pursue the cut:
So the initial biopsy tests showed that this could be something bad indeed. Not *skin* cancer. But yeah. The saving grace is that there is also a pseudo-something that mimics the other something and it requires special stains and dyes and other nonsense to determine if it's the real thing or just faking it. The faking-it reaction could be due to an insect bite, a medication reaction (which yeah I do occasionally take a drug that *could* cause this, but since I've taken this drug off and on for over 20 years, I doubt that, but there's no tellling), or something else undetermined and that will probably never be determined. So we just have to hope it's the pseudo-something. and if not, then we deal with it then. Right?
And that's it for now. Over and out and on with life.
